Author Bio

For 32 years, Doug Oudin served as Harbormaster on Catalina Island. He started writing a weekly column for the Catalina Islander Newspaper, a 'job' he performed for 21 years. After retiring in 2010, he wrote a memoir, chronicling the unique and amazing lifestyle he lived while on the Island. His story includes his involvement in the death of actress Natalie Wood, as well as dozens of fascinating tales of storms, rescues, and incidents at sea. But it also poignantly relates what Island life is all about, of raising two sons, and of living a life that others can only dream about. After his memoir ('Between Two Harbors') was published in 2013', he wrote a novel, 'Five Weeks to Jamaica', a seafaring adventure that he created based very loosely upon some of his other ocean experiences. Married for 38 years to the love of his life, Maureen, Doug now lives in Grants Pass, Oregon.
